VISITORS to Oakwell Hall are already making a bee-line for a new addition to the country park.
The venue has been given an unusual sculptural bench on long-term loan.

And the seat had been in place for less than 24 hours this week when families latched on to it.

The bench was made by sculptor Adrian Moakes who has just finished his large sculpture of a fern which is to be placed in the Oakwell Hall field.

Ranger Patrick Crowley said while working on the fern, Adrian got to know the hall well.

"He had this piece of work, a bench which had been with a geological museum," said Patrick. "When their need of it ended he gave it to us. It is on long-term loan, although technically for sale."

The bench has been placed outside the cafe, near the herb garden.

"It's already proving popular," said Patrick.
